MUMBAI: Times Network has issued a disconnection notice to direct to home (DTH) operator Reliance Big TV for non-payment of subscription fee and non-signing of the subscription agreement.


In a notice, Times Network said that either or all Times Network channels namely Times Now, ET Now and Zoom will be discontinued on or after the expiry of 21 days from the date of issue of this notice.


Times Network owns and operates news and entertainment channels like Times Now, ET Now, Mirror Now, MN+, MNX, Romedy Now and Zoom.


According to a Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) report, Reliance Big TV had 2% share of the active pay DTH market till September 2017.


Reliance Big TV has been acquired by Pantel Technologies and Veecon Television and Media from Reliance Communications. The DTH owes a huge amount of dues to top broadcasters.


Recently, DTH operator had launched a new high definition (HD) set top box (STB) for Rs 1999. The DTH operator is also offering free pay channels for one year and 500 free to air (FTA) channels free for five years. From the second year, the subscribers will have to pay for the pay channels at Rs 300 per month.
