MUMBAI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch DD Arun Prabha dedicated to the North-Eastern region on 15 February during his visit to Arunachal Pradesh capital Itanagar.

Modi will also lay the foundation stone of the Film and Television Institute in the state capital during his visit.

DD Arun Prabha will be Doordarshan’s second channel for the north-eastern region. It will showcase programmes on the diverse culture of the North Eastern states.

The state-owned broadcaster already runs DD North-East, which telecasts entertainment and information- based programmes in Assamese, Bengali, English and other languages of the region.

During the recent budget, the government had granted grant-in-aid of Rs 55.7 crore for ‘Kisan’ and ‘Arun Prabha’ channels.
